CHALLENGE
The world of work is changing rapidly, with growing digitization; vast troves of data to make sense of, and the pursuit of innovation to stay competitive. Office 365 users are confronted not only with a confusing product experience that’s hard to navigate, Microsoft finds itself slowly losing relevance amongst the modern day worker who now seeks purpose over productivity.
PROCESS
–Studied how Office 365 works: its ecosystem and individual products
–Conducted interviews and made a ton of new friends
–Helped establish key audiences and insights
–Built personas and user scenarios
–A ton of competitive research and analogous examples
–Participated in ideation workshops
–Developed product-service concepts and feature sets
–Created user/task flows
–Created wireframes and mocks
–Created shareable living style guides
–Developed all sorts of low to high fidelity prototypes
–Constant testing and learning
OUTCOME
Through user research, I helped establish key insights that resulted in the formation of five design principles that drive and define today’s 365 users as “People of Purpose”. I focused on translating our user insights and principles into product design features.
Through a series of sprints and in collaboration with industrial designers, interior designers, developers, and business designers, we came up with an integrated experience comprised of digital apps, space design, and IoT tools all working seamlessly with one another.

The Office Community turns Microsoft Office’s millions of subscribers into an extensive professional network. It provides a richer view of who you are and what you want to achieve, then matches you with people, experiences, content and opportunities to help you get there.

OUTLOOK'S IMPACT
The sum of any task, is not just what’s produced–what we currently quantify–but the impact it has on our overall life goals, the community and the world around us.
Impact is a new feature in Microsoft Outlook that enables goal-based planning designed to track impact.
OFFICE KINECT
Disguised as an ordinary pen cup, Office Kinect is a hardware and digital tool that helps record the ideas, themes and conversations during meetings and connects them to potential collaborators using a company’s meta data. All of these conversations are then made searchable and sharable.
